In The Beginning...

Commodore PETJeff Walker, the creator of CyberBasement, has dedicated the last ten+ years to designing web sites and web-based applications for a variety of customers. After writing his first program in 1978 (by today's standards, an agonizingly simple video game for the Commodore PET) Jeff spent several years in the electronics and microwave radio industries before getting back to his software roots with the US Postal Service. Responsible for maintaining the address database for all of southern Colorado, and programming the automated mail sorting machines, Jeff began to explore the nearly limitless applications of relational databases.

Jeff moved on to Oracle Corporation where he was introduced to data-driven web applications and user interface design. A large part of his responsibilities required a strong knowledge of system administration on Cata Custom eCommercenearly every UNIX variant, which he added to his existing background in Windows, Novell, and VMS along with Network Administration. Positions with Compaq/HP and a start-up called Black Dragon Software allowed Jeff to hone his web development skills in a variety of languages and on a variety of platforms while working on projects like his first completely custom eCommerce framework.

In 2005 Jeff left the corporate world to focus on his own web design and development pursuits, and founded Basement Web Services. BWS catered to a variety of customers, and handled everything from small business start-up websites, to one-off projects for large corporations. By focusing on doing whatever it takes to keep the customer satisfied, BWS continued to grow and expanded its service offerings to include website and email hosting, search engine optimization (SEO), and viral marketing.

Dan LaFontaine joined BWS somewhere along the line to provide the majority of the SEO/SEM genius needed to keep clients sitting happily at the top of the search results. In recent years he has also assumed the bulk of System Administration duties, and is usually assigned any task which includes the instruction, "Just figure it out."

In 2009, BWS acquired Web Galleries, Inc., another web design and hosting company originally based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and began developing a regional market. And in 2010, CyberBasement was created to consolidate the BWS and Web Galleries companies, as well as provide a solid foundation for developing a more diverse team of graphic artists and developers.

Chris Hearn joined the team at this point, and brought with him a wealth of knowledge in the Social Media arena. Coupled with his amazing design skills, Chris instantly became an indispensible part of the CyberBasement family.

Along the way, CyberBasement developed partnerships with Verio/NTT, CyberSource, Orbiting Code and others to provide seamless solutions for any size business.

Today CyberBasement has clients in 13 states, and is opening an east coast regional office this year. While we have continued to grow, CyberBasement will never lose it's focus on providing quality, fully customized user experiences and keeping a quick response time. That's just the way we roll.
